West Indian Sandalwood Oil
Characteristics
- Amyris Balsamifera
- White Santal is a tree native to Western India (India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka). Its wood is, among other things, the basis of Indian incense sticks.
- Amyris balsamifera is an aromatic shrub, reaching a height of 2-4 m, or a small tree, native to Cuba.
- ATTENTION: This is not essential oil from white sandalwood (Santalum album) from the Santalaceae family, but from Amyris balsamifera from the Rutaceae family, which are completely unrelated species!
- Solubility: in fats and in alcohol
Use
- It is used in cosmetics for the beautiful woody scent of sandalwood.
- It is used as a natural fragrance fixative. Thanks to its warm woody scent, it is also suitable for men's creams and perfumes.
