• Citrus Aurantium Var is native to Southeast Asia. The tree now grows in Mediterranean and subtropical regions around the world. The bitter orange tree that provides Petitgrain essential oil is also the source of bitter orange oil and neroli oil.
• Blends well with oils: Bergamot, Cedarwood, Sage, Geranium, Lavender, Jasmine, Neroli, Palmarosa, Rosemary, Rosewood, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.
• Aromatic fragrance: Petitgrain essential oil smells like orange blossoms with a bitter, woody and herbal undertone.
• History: Oil was originally produced in distilleries from unripe oranges when they were the size of cherries. This explains why it is called petitgrain, which means small grains in French. However, this proved uneconomical, so the oil began to be extracted from the leaves and twigs of the orange tree instead.
