Characteristics

• This plant-based solubilizer is sold as a semi-solid or liquid raw material and is also used as a surfactant and cleaning agent in cosmetic products.
• It has been designed for use as an emulsifier in aqueous formulations containing an aqueous phase.
• It is yellow in color with a slight odor.
• Does not contain any material of animal origin.

Use

• PEG 40 is recommended for use as the primary, if not the only, solubilizer or emulsifier in cosmetic applications such as sprays, serums, lotions, and oil-free creams.
• It is added to oils in the oil phase for its stronger solubilizing properties.
• It can be used in a ratio of 0.01 to 0.05%.

Notice

• Although it is unlikely to aggravate a pre-existing medical condition, do not use it on broken skin or in therapeutic creams.
• Direct undiluted contact may cause skin and eye irritation or discomfort.
• Otherwise, there are no known hazards in the formulation of this material when proper procedures are used.
