Characteristics

• A unique non-ionic emulsifier of natural origin. It forms liquid crystals that allow the effective release of water into the skin. Thanks to this, it has a long-lasting moisturizing effect.
• With Montanov 68 you can create high quality lotions that many end users describe as "lighter" and "more moisturizing". This is because Montanov 68 creates products with a so-called two-layer liquid crystal structure, in which water is "stored" and later released into the skin. Lotions will contain more water and will be more moisturizing. With this system, lotions, creams and other formulated products will also lose less water and be more moisturizing for longer. This emulsifier will also create a product that also delivers the actives more effectively to the skin.
• Lotions and creams made with Montanov ™ 68 are usually considered and described as "lighter" and moisturizing than creams made with non-liquid crystal emulsifiers such as Polawax ™ or Emulsifying Wax NF.
• This is Montanov 68 MB, a term used to indicate that the raw materials used in production meet the "Mass Balance" protocol, RSPO and have a Mass Balance certificate from the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

• As a promoter of liquid crystals that biomimic the lipid bilayer of the cell membrane, it helps stabilize the emulsion, provides a restructuring effect (reducing TEWL) and a moisturizing effect.

Use

• To create a cream with Montanov ™ 68, heat the emulsifier in a separate container with the oil phase to 75°C. Pour the heated water phase into the heated oil phase and mix with a hand blender until an emulsion is formed. Once the emulsion has formed, turn the mixer to low or beat by hand. Add all other ingredients to the 40°C cooling phase.
• Montanov ™ 68 works best with a 25% oil phase and can emulsify natural oils, silicones and esters. The inclusion of a fatty alcohol such as Cetyl or Cetearyl Alcohol can help increase the formation of liquid crystals in the lotion.
• It works well from a pH of 3 to 12, making it a good choice for making lotions as diverse as light facial moisturizers with AHAs and whitening or depilatory creams.
• According to the manufacturer, no additional stabilizers are needed. Based on our experience, we recommend using a pinch of xanthan gum.
