Description

Characteristics

A clear thin liquid with a pleasant dry citrus scent, it is vapor distilled from citrus peels.

D-Limonene, also known as a citrus terpene, is the main chemical component found in cold-pressed peel oils that can be obtained from all edible citrus fruits, especially oranges, lemons and limes. After the first pressing of the skins, it is obtained from the resulting oil by a distillation process.

The two chemical forms of limonene are d-limonene, which is found primarily in orange peels, and L-limonene, which is found primarily in lemon peels. Limonene gets its name from the botanical name for "Lemon" - Citrus limon - due to the abundance of this natural compound in lemon peels.

Due to its wide range of beneficial applications, d-Limonene is one of the most important natural terpenes. With a light, pleasantly dry and refreshing sweet citrus scent, it is prized for its scent and used in fragrances and green cleaners rather than therapeutic applications.

Use

It has a strong degreasing ability, so it is often used as a cleaner and thinner. It speeds up drying and adds a pleasant fragrance. This oil is very versatile, safer to use and more effective than most commercial and industrial cleaners.

The recommended maximum dose is 5-15%. 5 - 15% of the total product can be mixed with surfactants for cleaning products or solubilized and added to water and vinegar bases for effective natural disinfectant surface cleaners for home use.

D-Limonene works as a gentle and environmentally friendly cleaner, fragrance and degreasing agent. It can also be used to its full potential as a biodegradable solvent. Removes dirt, clay, grease, tar, wax, rubber, salt, sticky adhesive residue and stains from even ink or oil stains, helps disinfect, adds shine and deodorizes with a fresh scent. It can be added to wetting agents such as water or vinegar base to achieve better solubilization.

Note: Not intended for therapeutic use, mostly used in green cleaners and fragrances.

How does D-LIMONENE work?

D-Limonene is a deodorizer, degreaser, and gentle yet powerful cleaner that is believed to be effective at removing stains, grease, tar, and other substances, creating a natural replacement for more popular solvents that typically contain chlorine or petroleum.

Its mildness has made it a popular ingredient in waterless hand soaps, which are said to not only clean but also leave hands feeling fresh. When applied to various types of hard surfaces such as countertops, windows, mirrors, floors, bathtubs, refrigerators, automobiles, and electronic items, d-Limonene is considered a polish.

Attention, direct application on painted surfaces, Plexiglas, plastics or fiberglass is not recommended. It is a strong solvent, always test your surface first to see if D-limonene is suitable.
