Characteristics and uses

  • The historical use of oats has been shown to provide cleansing, moisturizing and smoothing effects to the skin and hair.
  • Oats contain a high concentration of starches and beta-glucan, which are responsible for their protective and retention properties. The presence of plant phenols can also induce antioxidant and soothing effects in oats.
  • Some of the oat phenols are also strong absorbers of ultraviolet radiation, which serve as photoprotectors for the skin and hair.
  • Oat protein can be hydrolyzed into lower molecular weight fractions to increase its solubility. The addition of fatty acid condensate, which is used to increase foaming, further modifies the protein.
  • The protein can be added to gentle cleansing products, such as baby applications or those aimed at sensitive skin, to provide gentle foaming as well as moisturizing and conditioning benefits.
  • Dosage 1.0% - 10.0%
