Characteristics
- A plasticizer that helps create and stabilize emulsions.
- A mixture of fatty alcohols that is produced for industrial use synthetically from natural or petrochemical intermediates. The mixture consists of cetyl (C 16) and stearyl (C 18) alcohols in a ratio of 50:50.
- In external medicines and cosmetics, it is mainly used as a consistency substance in emulsions and as an emollient. Increases the smoothness and stability of emulsions.
- Grounds and smooths the skin.

- Increases or decreases the viscosity of the product.
- It reduces the transparency or translucency of cosmetic products.
Use
- Due to its stiffening effects, it is a frequent auxiliary substance in cream emulsions of the oil/water type. In various types of cosmetic products, it is used as an emollient and consistency agent of emulsions (sun protection products, soaps, etc.)-
