Use

• Sapogel Q is a red/brown liquid blend used to create natural balms with textures similar to petroleum jelly or lanolin.
• Cosmetic products: cleansers, lip care, hair care and baby care.
• It can be used in both cold and hot processes; exfoliants and powders such as oats or starch can be added without compromising stability or appearance.
• Applications include body balms, salt or sugar scrubs, hair and beard balms, and lip balms.

• How it works

  • Sapogel Q works with all oils and butters. Viscosity varies from oil to oil, so several experiments may be needed.
  • Compared with sucrose ester-based oil thickeners, SAPOGEL® Q can be used to develop thicker and richer formulations. It creates a lamellar structure and remains stable hot and cold.

Recommended dosage

• 15–25%; the higher the Sapogel concentration, the lower the viscosity.
• To make the product more fluid, add up to 15% vegetable glycerin.
• Recommended concentration: 20–25% for oil gels; add up to 5% water for creamy textures.
• Viscosity ranges from a thick scoopable paste to a free-flowing liquid.

Application

• Follow a specific procedure when working with Sapogel Q.
• Measure the Sapogel. In another beaker, measure the oil, add it very carefully to the Sapogel and mix thoroughly.
• Glycerin reduces viscosity. Add up to 5% glycerin to the Sapogel phase.
