This ingredient is used in creams especially for skin that is prone to acne. It is often used in anti-dandruff shampoos. Salicylic acid can be very tricky to add to an emulsion formulation.
One option is to neutralize the acid into sodium salicylate by reacting with sodium bicarbonate. Allow to weather in water until the reaction is complete, the salt is just as effective as the acid but has less solubility problems.
The second variant is that you disperse the acid beforehand in a suitable solvent. You can use glycerin, for better solubility you can add urea.
Dosage 2% of the total amount
Ingredients: salicylic acid 5 g, cold-pressed almond oil 60 g, castor oil 30 g
Salicylic acid is in almond oil and since it is necessary to apply salicylic acid in the form of a solution, i.e. dissolved, it is necessary to add an auxiliary substance that will allow it to dissolve completely. Such is castor oil, with which a part (30 - 40 g) replaces the prescribed almond oil.
Castor oil is mixed with almond oil, heated to a temperature of 70-80 °C and salicylic acid is dissolved in the mixture. After dissolving and cooling, it is filled into a suitable container and the product is stored at room temperature. It is proven that in this case 30 g of castor oil will ensure complete and permanent dissolution of salicylic acid.
The product is used to remove dandruff, it is applied to the hairy part of the head usually once a day, preferably in the evening. It is rubbed into the hair, which is then tied with a scarf, towel or covered with a shower cap and left overnight. In the morning, the oil and loose scales are washed off with shampoo and, if necessary, the procedure is repeated.
It's simple, mix essential oils (thyme, rosemary and lavender) into the shampoo base and mix thoroughly. Then add silk protein and salicylic acid.
