Properties and uses

Widely loved for its crisp freshness in DIY cosmetics, aromatherapy and perfumery:

• Home fragrance: in a diffuser/aroma lamp it evokes a fresh, “clear head” atmosphere.
• Cosmetics: shower gels, shampoos, soaps, massage and body oils.
• Hair care: popular in shampoos/tonics for a refreshed scalp feel.

What do essential oils dissolve in?

Essential oils are hydrophobic and do not dissolve in water. Always dilute them in a carrier:

• Alcohol – ideal for perfumes, sprays and air fresheners.
• Vegetable oils – suitable for cosmetic and massage blends.
• Polysorbate 80 – enables mixing with water.
• Augeo – suitable for perfumes and diffusers.
