What do we put in it?
Monoi de Tahiti is a traditional cosmetic oil originating from French Polynesia, known for its exceptional moisturizing, nourishing and soothing properties. This gem is made by macerating tiare flowers (Tahitian gardenia flowers) in pure coconut oil, which is specially prepared to gently absorb the fragrance and beneficial substances from the flowers.
It is popularly added to body lotions, suntan oils, massage preparations, as well as luxury shampoos and conditioners. The oil has a wonderful exotic scent that reminds of tropical flowers and is very popular not only for its cosmetic benefits, but also for its relaxing and aromatherapy effect.
Monoi de Tahiti is excellent for dry and stressed skin. It leaves it silky soft and deeply nourished. It contains natural fatty acids that help lock in moisture in the skin. Thanks to the content of antioxidants and vitamins, Monoi de Tahiti supports cell regeneration, protects the skin from environmental influences and prevents premature aging.
But you can also use it elsewhere than in skin care. It is also used to nourish dry and damaged hair, giving it shine and softness. It acts as a natural conditioner, helps reduce hair breakage and softens it.
Monoi de Tahiti oil must be prepared in Tahiti and meet the specific conditions set by the trademark. This guarantees quality and authenticity – pure coconut oil from Polynesia and fresh tiare flowers are used for production, which are macerated for at least 10 days so that the oil gets all the valuable substances from the flowers. In short, Monoi de Tahiti is a unique natural product that combines the beauty and care of Polynesian tradition with modern needs for healthy skin and hair.
Nilotica shea butter is a highly valued variant of shea butter, originating from East Africa, mainly from the area around the Nile River (hence the name "Nilotica" ). Unlike traditional West African shea butter, Nilotica is rarer, softer and has a lighter texture, making it popular in luxury cosmetics and skin care.
Nilotica shea butter is prized for its finer texture and higher content of oleic acids, which ensures easy absorption and intensive hydration of the skin. It contains a high amount of vitamins A and E, antioxidants and essential fatty acids, thanks to which it regenerates, softens and protects the skin from drying out and premature aging. It is also great for dry and brittle hair and cuticle care.
Additionally, this rare variant of shea butter is sustainably sourced and supports local communities in East Africa.
Vanilla macerate is another of our divine ingredients. It is an oil extract created by macerating vanilla pods in high-quality sunflower oil. During the maceration process, aromatic components and active substances from vanilla are released, which give the oil a sweet, slightly spicy aroma and also beneficial effects on the skin.
Vanilla macerate is rich in antioxidants that help protect the skin from premature aging and has soothing and softening effects, making it ideal for dry and sensitive skin. It acts not only as an effective moisturizing agent, but also as a natural aromatherapy component that promotes a feeling of well-being and relaxation.
We also add oat silk to the fats. Finely ground powder from oat grains, which is used in cosmetics for its soothing, softening and protective properties. It contains beta-glucans, group B vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that help hydrate the skin, support its regeneration and protect it from irritation. It also ensures a pleasant "finish" in our butter. Malinko will reduce the oiliness of the product, which will have a matte and non-sticky effect on the skin thanks to the oat powder.
We also add vitamin E to extend the shelf life of the balm. If you like subtle scents, you might be fine with leaving the balm scented with only natural aromas. If you want the scent to be more intense, try mixing it with a scented oil. We chose the Ginger, Amber & Bergamot scent and it was a hit in the black… or rather, in the floral. :)
- 22 grams of Nilotica shea butter
- 13 grams of Monoi de Tahiti
- 9.2 grams of vanilla macerate
- 1.5 grams of oat silk
- 0.2 grams of Ginger, amber & bergamot fragrance
- 0.1 gram of vitamin E
Prepare a water bath. Weigh Nilotica Shea Butter and Monoi de Tahiti into a heatproof container. Place in a water bath and let it dissolve on a low heat.
When the fats are liquid, remove the container with them from the water bath, and gradually add all the remaining ingredients.
Mix well and put the mixture in the fridge for about 10 minutes. Then mix the mixture well and repeat the process once or twice more until the balm is beautifully creamy and pudding-like in consistency.
Then just transfer the balm into the selected container. He likes it very much in glass jars. We went for green, but you can also choose black or blue. Which one will it be?
