is an antimicrobial blend that provides excellent protection in your cosmetics. A natural preservative.

Preservative 1388 ECO is a preservative system based on salts of organic acids. It is used in cosmetic products to limit microbial growth during storage and use.
It is particularly suitable for natural cosmetic formulations and products containing water or a water-alcohol phase.

It is approved for BIOcosmetics. It can be used in all types of cosmetics, from tonics to gels and emulsions. It provides excellent protection against bacteria (gram-positive and negative) and also against fungi.

We especially recommend this preservative as a stand-alone water-soluble (no solubilizer needed) preservative for water-based products where you are not using any other oil-soluble ingredient and want to avoid any solubilizer.

In emulsions it has weak anti-yeast activity and you may need to combine it with other preservatives with higher anti-yeast activity such as potassium sorbate (especially if you are using high concentrations of natural ingredients such as honey, aloe, clays).

Preservative 1388 Eco, in addition to preservatives, provides the product with moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties.

How to work with it

The raw material is soluble in water and is added to the water phase or to the finished product.
For proper functionality, it is necessary to maintain the recommended pH environment in which the preservative system is effective.

Use

• Application rate: 3.0-4.0%
• Application pH: although the supplier recommends a pH range between 4.5-5.5, we recommend our pH range between 5.0-5.5 based on our experience and further discussions with the manufacturer's technical experts.
• At pH below 5.0, the product becomes insoluble and may cause turbidity or emulsion separation.
• Application mode: addition to the aqueous phase. Does not require any solubilizer in transparent liquids.
