Homemade dishwasher brightening powder

Ingredients:

• 1 cup washing soda (sodium carbonate)
• 1/2 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
• 3/4 cup citric acid
• 1/4 cup Himalayan salt
• 15–20 drops essential oils (ideally lemon and clove)

Instructions:

1. Base Mixture: Thoroughly mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
   • Washing soda relentlessly dissolves grease.
   • Baking soda gently softens water and protects glass from cloudy spots.
   • Citric acid is key to fighting limescale and adds a high shine.
   • Himalayan salt helps balance water hardness and boosts overall effectiveness.
2. Scent and Purity: Add the essential oils. Lemon and clove smell wonderful and provide great antibacterial effects. Mix well again.

Storage or Tablet Making:

• Powder: Transfer to a dry, airtight glass jar. Use 1 tablespoon per wash directly in the detergent compartment.
• Tablets: Slightly moisten the mixture (preferably with a water spray), press into molds, and let dry for 24–48 hours until hardened.

Dosage: 1 tablespoon of powder (or one homemade tablet) is plenty for one cycle.

Dishwasher Care: Don't forget to regularly refill the regenerating salt. Combined with this recipe, it ensures crystal-clear glass and a long-lasting machine free of limescale.
