Homemade dishwasher brightening powder

Ingredients:

• 1 cup washing soda (sodium carbonate)
• 1/2 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
• 3/4 cup citric acid
• 1/4 cup Himalayan salt
• 15–20 drops essential oil (ideally lemon and clove)

Instructions:

1. Base mix: In a large bowl, thoroughly mix all dry ingredients.
   • Washing soda tackles grease without hesitation.
   • Baking soda gently softens water and protects glass from dull spots.
   • Citric acid is key for fighting limescale and gives dishes a sparkle.
   • Himalayan salt helps balance water hardness and boosts the overall effectiveness of the powder.
2. Fragrance and cleanliness: Add essential oils to the dry mix. Lemon and clove not only make your kitchen smell wonderful with every dishwasher cycle but also have excellent antibacterial effects. Mix again thoroughly.

Storage or making tablets:

• Powder: Transfer the mix into a dry, airtight jar. For each wash, use 1 tablespoon directly in the compartment.
• Tablets: For tablets, lightly moisten the mixture (preferably with a spray bottle), pack into molds, and let sit 24–48 hours to dry and harden.

Dosage: One tablespoon of powder (or one homemade tablet) is enough per wash cycle.

Dishwasher care: Remember to regularly refill the salt reservoir. Combined with this recipe, it keeps your glassware crystal clear and your dishwasher running smoothly, free of limescale buildup.
