Preparation Instructions

  1. Prepare water phase: In a clean container, mix distilled water and glycerin. Gently heat to about 40°C. Dissolve urea in this warm liquid, ensuring the temperature does not exceed 40-45°C to prevent degradation.
  2. Prepare oil phase: In another container, combine plum oil, babassu oil, shea butter, Olivem 1000 emulsifier, and cetyl alcohol. Heat the mixture to around 70°C until everything is fully melted and combined. Allow the mixture to cool down to about 45°C so that both phases reach similar temperatures.
  3. Emulsification: When both phases are at about 45°C, slowly pour the oil phase into the water phase. Use an immersion blender and mix thoroughly until a stable, smooth, creamy consistency forms.
  4. Add active ingredients: Let the emulsion cool slightly below 40°C. Then mix in the Phase C ingredients—panthenol, vitamin E, and cosgard. Thoroughly mix or whisk to evenly distribute all components.
  5. Filling: Fill the finished cream into alcohol-disinfected plastic or glass containers. Selecting the right material is key—urea can react with aluminum, so avoid aluminum containers completely.

What Each Ingredient Does in the Recipe

  • Urea: The main functional ingredient. At 15% concentration, it has strong hydrating and keratolytic effects, helping to soften and gently remove dead, hardened skin.
  • Cold-pressed plum oil: Provides deep nourishment and has a practical aromatic role—its natural scent helps mask urea's characteristic smell in cosmetics.
  • Babassu oil and shea butter: These plant-based fats create a protective film on the skin, lock in moisture, and give the cream a pleasant texture.
  • Olivem 1000 and cetyl alcohol: Act as emulsifiers and thickeners, combining water and oil into a stable cream and ensuring easy spreadability.
  • Glycerin and panthenol: Boost hydration, support skin regeneration, and soothe irritation.
  • Vitamin E and cosgard: Vitamin E protects plant oils from rancidity, while cosgard ensures the cream's microbiological stability due to its water content.

How to Use the Cream Properly

Apply the foot cream in the evening before bed on clean feet for the best effect. For maximum results, put on cotton socks after application; this will keep the area warm and help active ingredients absorb better overnight.

You may experience mild tingling upon application. If the cream does not tingle, this is normal and the product is working. If you feel slight tingling, it usually indicates minor micro-cracks on your heels, which is a common reaction with 15% urea and should pass soon. Homemade cosmetics bring you not only the joy of crafting but especially targeted care your skin will appreciate.
