What do essential oils dissolve in?

Essential oils are hydrophobic and do not dissolve in water. They must always be mixed in a carrier:

• Alcohol – ideal for perfumes, sprays and room scents.
• Vegetable oils – suitable for massage blends and cosmetics.
• Polysorbate 80 – enables mixing with water.
• Augeo – suitable for diffusers and home fragrances.
