Ferulic acid is a plant antioxidant naturally occurring in, for example, rice, wheat or bran. In cosmetics, it is valued primarily for its antioxidant properties and is often combined with vitamin C and vitamin E.
In home cosmetics, it is used mainly in skin serums, creams and preparations intended for the care of skin exposed to external influences. It contributes to the protection of the skin from oxidative stress and promotes a fresh and unified appearance of the skin.

Recipes with Ferulic Acid
1) Antioxidant serum with vitamin C and ferulic acid

Procedure
First dissolve ferulic acid in ethanol (stir until a clear mixture). In a separate container, dissolve vitamin C in water. Combine both mixtures and mix. After cooling below 30–35 °C, add vitamin E and preservative. If necessary, adjust the pH (usually approximately 3–3.5). Fill into a dark bottle with a dropper.
2) Antioxidant gel with ferulic acid

Procedure
Mix xanthan in glycerin. Prepare a base in water and stir in the glycerin+xanthan mixture, let it hydrate for 10–15 minutes and stir again. Dissolve ferulic acid in ethanol and add to the gel. Finally, stir in the preservative and adjust the pH if necessary (usually acidic). Fill into airless packaging.
3) Light day cream with ferulic acid and vitamin E

Procedure
Prepare the emulsion: heat the water and oil phases to approximately 70 °C, combine and emulsify. Dissolve the ferulic acid in ethanol. After cooling the emulsion below 40 °C, add the dissolved ferulic acid, vitamin E and preservative. Mix thoroughly and fill into a cup or airless container.
