Where did the dragon come from?
“Dragon's Blood” is the name of the red sap from trees nicknamed “Dragonniers”. These fascinating trees with their unusual appearance are exceptionally long-lived and have long been attributed with magical properties.
The use of dragon blood sap dates back to ancient times, when it was sourced from the Dracaena cinnabari species, which grows on the island of Socotra, Yemen. Romans were enchanted by the mystical properties of Dragon's Blood due to its deep red color.
In Latin America, Dragon's Blood is considered a traditional remedy that locals use both externally and internally. In Peru, it was nicknamed “liquid bandage” because it was traditionally used on wounds to stop bleeding or to soothe insect bites, itching, cracked skin, venous ulcers, and burns.
