Chilli CO2 extract is a highly concentrated oil component obtained from chili peppers using the CO₂ extraction method. In cosmetics, it is mainly used when you want to add a strong warming/“warming” sensation on the skin and a sensory effect of heat to the product. It is not a raw material for everyday skin routine, but an ingredient for targeted body products and massage formulations.

In customer terms: it's a "drop that makes a big difference" - even a small amount can change the perception of the product. That's why it's necessary to work with it carefully and stick to low dosages.

The most common use is in massage oils (almond, sunflower, macadamia, etc.). By adding a very small amount, you get an oil that, when rubbed, creates a warming feeling. Suitable for:

  • massage aimed at "warming up" the skin,

  • seasonal body oils (winter, "warming"),

  • mixtures intended for massage of selected areas (local use).

Body balms, ointments and solid massage cubes

Chilli CO2 extract is an oil ingredient, so it is perfect for:

  • balms (oils + butters + waxes),

  • rigid massage cubes,

  • ointment (firmer consistency for topical application).

In these products, the extract is “locked” in a fat base, which is practical for targeted application and often helps maintain a more pleasant spread.

Body emulsions (creams/milks) with a warming effect

Technologically it is possible, but it requires proper processing:

  • chilli extract is added to the oil phase or to the finished emulsion during cooling,

  • in an emulsion the effect may be more subtle than in pure oil,

  • Very low dosage and even dispersion are important.

It makes sense to use "warming" body lotions or creams intended for the body, not the face.

Solubility and Phase

  • Soluble in oils, not in water.

  • Belongs to the oil phase (oils, butters, waxes) or is added to the finished oil product.

Addition temperature

  • Add ideally below 40°C (to the cooling mixture) to minimize unnecessary heat exposure and improve control over dosing.

Dosage

  • Working with very low concentrations.

  • The usual range is on the order of tenths of a percent (e.g. 0.05–0.2%) – always start at the lower limit.

Tip from practice: The best way to dose is to prepare a pre-dilution (e.g. 1% solution in oil) and then add only a small amount of this solution to the recipe. This will give you more accurate dosing and less risk of "overshooting".

Where to avoid it (important for safe use)

  • Not for the face, eye area and lips.

  • Not on mucous membranes and not on broken/freshly irritated skin.

  • Not suitable for very sensitive or reactive skin.

  • After application, wash your hands and avoid contact with eyes.
