Bentonite, also known as Aztec clay, is a natural mineral raw material used in cosmetics, especially as a highly absorbent and structural component. In home cosmetics, it is used primarily to prepare face masks, cleansing pastes, wraps and soaps.
It is popular in products intended for oily and problematic skin, where it helps absorb excess sebum and impurities from the skin's surface. It also contributes to creating a thicker consistency of cosmetic products.

How to work with it
Bentonite is insoluble in water, when in contact with water it swells significantly and forms a gel-like paste.
It is used without heating, mixed with water or hydrolates. It is recommended to work with non-metallic utensils to avoid changing the properties of the clay.
