Allantoin is one of the most frequently used active ingredients in cosmetics. It is especially popular in products designed for skin care and skin exposed to stress, shaving or adverse external conditions. In home cosmetics, it is used as an additional ingredient that increases the comfort of using the finished product and promotes a pleasant feeling on the skin.
It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, and combines well with other active and basic ingredients.
How to work with it:
Allantoin is soluble in water, but dissolves slowly. It is best added to heated water phase at a temperature of approximately 50–70 °C. The recommended dosage is usually in the range 0.1–0.5%, with a maximum of around 1% depending on the type of product.
Once completely dissolved, it is stable over a wide pH range, allowing its use in various types of cosmetic formulations.
